Large-format fashion retail fit-out at Avenues Mall
Complete interior fit-out including MEP & joinery installation. A large-format fashion unit at Avenues Mall, delivered over ninety days on night shift.
The constraint — an eleven-metre shopfront glass
The defining element was the shopfront: a glass facade approximately eleven metres high. Glass at that scale stops being a glazing exercise and becomes a lifting one. The panels could not be handled by the methods used on an ordinary shopfront, so a specialist lifting crane was brought in to raise them to height and set them.
How we solved it — planning a specialist crane lift around mall trading hours
That single decision carries a chain of others behind it — when the crane can be on site, what has to be complete before it arrives and what cannot be in the way, how the glass is protected between delivery and installation, and what happens to the programme if the lift is delayed by wind. In a trading mall, with a lift of that size happening outside trading hours, there is very little room to reschedule.
What this means for a retail fit-out
Volume retail is also a test of resourcing rather than of craft. Ninety days is long enough for labour to quietly drift onto other jobs, and the programme fails in the last fortnight rather than the first. Keeping the team on it to the end is most of the discipline.
