The constraint — Onyx marble arriving three days before handover
The programme was set by a single material. The onyx marble came through our supply chain in Dubai and was delayed; it reached Bahrain three days before handover. Onyx is not a material you can substitute quietly — it is the surface the store is designed around, and a different stone is a different store.
How we solved it — three shifts across those three days to hold the date
Everything that could be done without it was brought forward so that the three days left were spent only on the stone. We put teams on three shifts across those days and handed over on the committed date.
What this means for a retail fit-out
The general point for a retailer: the risk on a fit-out is rarely the construction. It is the one long-lead item the design depends on, and the useful contractor is the one tracking it from placement rather than waiting to be told it has slipped.
