Retail and Fashion Interior Fit-Out in Bahrain
Handyman Services is a retail fit-out contracting company working across Bahrain's malls, high streets and airport retail. Brands looking for retail shop fit out bahrain are working to a handover date set by a landlord and a launch date set by a marketing calendar, and neither moves. We have delivered eleven retail projects in the country, from international fashion floors to jewellery boutiques and mall kiosks.

Mall fit-out guidelines are the real specification
Every mall in Bahrain issues fit-out guidelines, and for a retail unit those guidelines outrank almost everything else. They govern shopfront setback and materials, the depth of the bulkhead, signage dimensions and illumination, permitted working hours, hoarding standards, delivery routes, and the deposit that is only returned when the centre is satisfied the unit was built as approved. A drawing that ignores them is not a drawing that will be approved. We read them first and design to them, rather than submitting an elegant scheme and then negotiating it backwards.
- Shopfront line, setback and material compliance
- Signage dimensions, illumination and approval submission
- Hoarding to centre standard from first day of possession
- Fit-out deposit protected by building to the approved drawings
Display joinery and the fixtures that carry the brand
In retail the joinery is the shop. Gondolas, wall bays, cash desks, fitting rooms, display plinths and vitrines are what the customer touches and what the brand audits. We survey the unit as constructed, produce detailed shop drawings for approval and hold production to them, so tolerances are checked against the shop that was actually built rather than the shop that was drawn. A revised or damaged unit is remade to the same approved drawing rather than reinterpreted.
- Wall bays, gondolas, cash desks and fitting rooms produced to approved shop drawings
- Display plinths, vitrines and secure cases for jewellery retail
- Veneer, laminate, solid surface and painted finishes
- Site measurement, fabrication and installation by one team
Jewellery, luxury and secure retail
Jewellery and luxury units carry requirements ordinary retail does not. Display cases need locking mechanisms and laminated glazing, lighting has to render metal and stone honestly rather than flatteringly, safes and secure back-of-house need structural provision, and the security system has to be coordinated with the fit-out rather than fixed to the walls afterwards. We delivered the Amal Al Majed jewellery boutique at Avenues Mall and multiple Ajmal Perfumes stores, both of which sit in this category.
- Laminated and toughened secure display glazing
- Lighting specified for accurate rendering of metal, stone and product
- Structural provision for safes and secure storage
- Security and alarm systems coordinated into the build
Kiosks, pop-ups and mid-mall units
A mid-mall kiosk is a small project with a disproportionate number of constraints. It is visible from every side, so there is no back and no tolerance for a rough edge. It has to be installed overnight in a trading centre, it draws power and data from a floor box whose position was fixed years ago, and centre management will assess it on appearance from the moment the hoarding comes down. We build these as manufactured units in the workshop and install them complete, which is faster on site and produces a better finish than assembling one in a mall concourse at three in the morning.
- Workshop-manufactured units installed complete overnight
- All-round finish quality, with no concealed rear elevation
- Power and data coordinated to existing floor box positions
- Pop-up and seasonal structures for short-term activations

What clients ask us first.
How quickly can a mall retail unit be fitted out?
The controlling factors are the landlord's approval of your drawings, the permitted working hours in that centre, and the lead time on any imported shopfront or display elements. Malls restrict noisy work and deliveries to closed hours, which shortens the effective working day considerably. We programme against the hours the centre will actually permit rather than a nominal working week.
Do you handle the display joinery?
Yes, as part of the fit-out package. We survey the constructed unit, produce detailed shop drawings for approval, schedule production against the opening date and check the work during production and before delivery. Because the drawings and the programme are held by the same team building the shop, a change on site is issued as a revision rather than surfacing as a problem on installation night.
Can you build to an international brand's retail manual?
Yes. We have delivered to brand standard for operators including Alshaya and Havelock, working from documented specifications with sample submissions and approvals before ordering. Where a specified material is unavailable regionally we seek the brand's written agreement to a substitute rather than making a site decision.
Do you handle shopfronts and signage?
Yes — glazed shopfronts, entrance systems, feature facades, and signage fabrication and installation, including the approval submissions that malls and the Municipality require. Signage dimensions and illumination are among the most commonly rejected elements of a retail submission, so we deal with them early.
Can you deliver several stores for the same brand?
Yes. Consistency across units is a matter of working to one documented specification, one approved set of shop drawings and the same installation teams. We have delivered multiple locations for Ajmal Perfumes across Seef, Marassi, Dilmunia, Avenues, Enma and Tawar Mall in Qatar.
