Restaurant, Cafe and F&B Interior Fit-Out in Bahrain

Handyman Services is a commercial fit-out contracting company delivering restaurants, cafes and food and beverage outlets across Bahrain. Operators comparing restaurant fit out companies bahrain are buying one thing above all others: an opening date that holds. A restaurant that opens three weeks late has paid three weeks of rent, staff and marketing against no revenue, which is why our F&B programmes are built backwards from the opening rather than forwards from mobilisation.

The scope, itemised.

  • Full-service restaurants, from shell to opening
  • Cafes, coffee shops and grab-and-go counters
  • Commercial kitchen construction, extract and make-up air systems
  • Grease interceptors, drainage and water treatment
  • Cold rooms, freezer rooms and associated insulated panel construction
  • Hygienic wall, floor and ceiling finishes to health authority requirement
  • Bars, counters, banquettes and bespoke restaurant joinery
  • Shopfronts, facades and external seating structures
  • Franchise rollouts built to international brand standard
  • Civil Defence, Municipality and health approvals, commissioning and handover

The kitchen decides the programme

Front of house is what the customer sees and it is rarely what delays an opening. The kitchen is. Extract capacity, make-up air, gas or electric provision, grease interception, drainage falls and the sheer coordination of equipment that arrives from three suppliers on three different dates — this is where F&B fit-outs succeed or slip. We set the kitchen out first, confirm the equipment schedule before any ceiling closes, and coordinate extract routing with the landlord early, because a mall that will not permit a duct riser on the route your consultant drew is a problem best discovered in week one rather than week nine.

  • Extract and make-up air balanced properly, not merely installed
  • Equipment schedule frozen before ceilings and services close
  • Grease interceptor sizing and drainage falls confirmed against actual covers
  • Landlord approval for duct routing obtained before fabrication

Hygiene finishes and health approval

Food premises in Bahrain are inspected against requirements that are specific and unforgiving: washable and non-absorbent wall finishes in preparation areas, coved junctions between wall and floor, slip-resistant flooring, sealed ceilings above food handling, and hand wash provision where the inspector expects to find it rather than where the layout made it convenient. These are not finishes chosen for appearance. Getting them wrong means a failed inspection days before opening, which is the single most expensive point at which to discover a specification error.

  • Washable, non-absorbent finishes throughout preparation and wash-up areas
  • Coved skirtings and sealed junctions where inspection requires them
  • Slip-resistant flooring specified for wet and greasy conditions
  • Hand wash stations and wash-up provision positioned to requirement

Mall units and trading-hour restrictions

A restaurant inside a working mall is bound by the centre's fit-out guidelines and its trading hours, both of which shorten the working day considerably. Deliveries route through service corridors on the centre's schedule, hot works need permits, hoarding must meet the centre's standard, and noisy work is confined to hours when the mall is closed. Our teams work night shifts on these projects as a matter of routine rather than as an emergency measure, and we price the programme on the hours we will actually be permitted to work.

  • Fit-out guideline compliance and centre management approvals
  • Night-shift working within permitted hours
  • Hoarding, hot works permits and service corridor delivery scheduling
  • Protection of adjacent trading units throughout

Franchise rollouts and brand standard

An international brand arrives with a manual, and the manual is not a suggestion. Finishes, dimensions, lighting temperature, signage tolerances and equipment specification are audited before an opening is approved. We have delivered to that standard for regional operators including Alshaya, Kharafi Global and Gastronomica, which means working to a documented specification, submitting samples for approval, and accepting that a substitute material needs the brand's written agreement rather than a site decision.

  • Construction to documented brand specification and tolerances
  • Sample submissions and approvals before ordering
  • Consistency across multiple units for operators running several sites
  • Brand audit support ahead of opening

Front of house, and the details customers notice

Once the kitchen and the approvals are resolved, what remains is the room the customer actually sits in, and it is judged on details that cost very little to get right and are conspicuous when wrong. Banquette seat height against table height. Lighting warm enough to be flattering and bright enough to read a menu. Acoustic treatment in a hard-surfaced room, because a restaurant nobody can hold a conversation in does not get a second visit. Floor finishes that survive spillage without becoming a slip hazard. We build these into the specification rather than treating them as decoration applied at the end.

  • Banquette, bar and table heights set to work together
  • Lighting temperature and level specified for the dining experience
  • Acoustic absorption designed into hard-surfaced rooms
  • Durable, cleanable finishes in customer-facing areas

What clients ask us first.

How long does a restaurant fit-out take in Bahrain?

It depends far more on approvals and kitchen equipment lead times than on the construction itself. The realistic controlling factors are Civil Defence and Municipality approval, health authority requirements, and the delivery date of imported kitchen equipment — which often arrives overland via the King Fahd Causeway and is exposed to customs clearance. We give a programme with a critical path against your specific unit rather than a general figure, because a mall unit with restricted working hours and a standalone site are not comparable.

Do you install commercial kitchens, or only build the space around them?

Both. We construct the kitchen — hygienic finishes, drainage, grease interception, cold rooms — and install and connect the equipment, coordinating extract and make-up air so the system is balanced rather than merely present. Where a brand or operator supplies specified equipment directly, we take responsibility for the builder's work, the services and the commissioning around it.

Can you work night shifts in a mall?

Yes, and for mall units it is usually the only way. Centre management restricts noisy work, deliveries and hot works to hours when the mall is closed. We plan and price these programmes on permitted working hours from the outset, and handle hoarding, permits and service corridor scheduling with centre management as part of our scope.

Do you work with international franchise brands?

Yes. We have delivered food and beverage projects for regional operators including Alshaya, Kharafi Global and Gastronomica, working to documented brand specifications with sample approvals before ordering and brand audit support ahead of opening.

What approvals does a restaurant need before it can open?

Typically Municipality clearance, Civil Defence approval covering fire detection, suppression and escape, health authority requirements covering food premises finishes and hand wash provision, and EWA coordination for electrical, water and drainage connections. Mall units additionally require centre management approval of the fit-out drawings. We prepare and submit these through approved consultants as part of the contract.
