Restaurant fit-out with civil works in Adliya
Complete civil & interior fit-out works including bespoke joinery and metal works. Six hundred square metres in Adliya over four months — the brand's first store in Bahrain, and the longest single programme in our portfolio.
The constraint — a first store in the market, with no precedent to build from
A first store carries no precedent. Every finish was new to the market and had to be mocked up, sampled and approved before it could be executed, so the early weeks were as much a materials exercise as a construction one. That work is invisible in the finished restaurant and it is the reason the finished restaurant looks the way it does.
How we solved it — engineering a concept into something that could be made
The design developed considerably during construction, as a first store's design usually does — the concept meets the actual room and the actual room wins some of the arguments. We absorbed those amendments as they came rather than treating each one as a stoppage, which is only possible if the programme has been built with somewhere for them to go.
What this means for a restaurant fit-out
The custom elements were where the engineering went: a rusted steel chandelier, polished concrete floors, fluted concrete walls, and light fittings made from rusted steel pipe. None of these is a catalogue item. Each had to be engineered from a concept image into something that could be fabricated, transported, installed and then survive a working restaurant — produced through our joinery and metal partners, to our shop drawings and under our supervision.
