Ajmal Kiosk
Retail fit-out at Tawar Mall, Qatar
Design & build of a bespoke retail kiosk including joinery, metal & glass works. A bespoke retail kiosk at Tawar Mall in Doha — nine square metres, designed, built in Bahrain and installed in Qatar.
The constraint — shipping, customs and mall approvals across a border
Most of the work on this one was not construction. It was shipping, logistics, and getting the design approved by Tawar Mall's own management to their fit-out standards, which are set independently of anything agreed in Bahrain.
How we solved it — planning the whole sequence backwards from the installation night
Working across a border adds a layer that a domestic project does not have: customs, transport timing, and a centre whose approval process you cannot walk into an office and chase. The sequence has to be planned backwards from the installation night, with the paperwork finished well before the kiosk physically moves.
What this means for a retail fit-out
A kiosk is also unforgiving in a way a store is not. It has no back of house and no bad side — every face is a shopfront, seen from every angle, so every joint is a finished edge. Produced through our joinery partners, to our shop drawings, under our supervision.
