The constraint — ten days for decorative work at the very end of a programme
Decorative work of this kind is always the last thing on site, which means it inherits whatever delay has accumulated in front of it while the opening date stays exactly where it was. Ten days was the whole programme.
How we solved it — colour and texture agreed by sample, not on the finished wall
The paint works were overseen by a French consultant, and the approval route ran through extensive mock-ups and samples before any final surface was touched. That is the correct process for decorative work — the alternative is discovering a disagreement about colour or texture on the finished wall, where it costs a repaint and a day nobody has.
What this means for bespoke and specialist work
The work was completed three days before the event, with a specific commendation from both the consultant and the client. On a ten-day programme, three days early is the part we are most pleased about.
