The constraint — three bespoke finishes, and a question from the municipality
The specification combined a concrete panel with a Corten weathering-steel finish — two materials that behave differently and are both judged at close range. Partway through, the municipality raised a question about how much signage was permitted, which is the kind of issue that stops a programme rather than slowing it.
How we solved it — sampling and mock-ups, with the approval resolved alongside fabrication
We worked the approval through while fabrication continued, and settled the finishes by sample and mock-up rather than on a drawing. Corten in particular has to develop evenly and be stable before installation, because the alternative is staining whatever sits beneath it. The signage was finished inside the twenty-five days committed.
