Bespoke joinery works. An eighteen square metre bespoke retail cart at Avenues Mall, designed, built and installed in three days.
The constraint — a last-minute request against the mall opening
The request came in late: the client wanted the cart ready to trade on the day the mall opened. Three days is not a programme, it is a sprint, and a freestanding retail cart has no back of house — every face is a finished shopfront, seen from every side, so nothing can be hidden.
How we solved it — production running twenty-four hours for three days
Fabrication ran around the clock for three days through our joinery partners, to our shop drawings and under our supervision, and the cart was installed in the mall on the fourth night. Because it was built complete rather than in parts, the installation itself was assembly rather than construction.
What this means for bespoke and specialist work
Almost all of a job like this happens away from site. What arrives at the mall should be finished, and the night of installation should hold no surprises. A contractor who can take a three-day commission is one whose production and drawing capacity is already in place, not one who starts looking for it when the call comes.
